DEFINITIONSBefore calculations, some terms related with passenger lift must be defined.LIFT: Lift is a conveying machine, which carry both bad and people vertically or smaller than 15° to vertical direction, between predetermined points.PASSENGER: Passenger is any person carried by lift.LIFT CAR: Lift car is the part of lift, which carries load or passenger.RATED LOAD: Guaranteed load value, which can be carried in lift by designer.RATED SPEED: Guaranteed speed value of lift car by designerWELL: well is a space which contains lift car, counter weight and guideways. The space is limited with base, ceiling and sidewall.COUNTER WEIGHT: It’s a mass, which is used to reduce motor power.GUIDEWAYS: Guideway is a part, which guide the lift car and counter weight.PIT: pit is a space below the point that the lift car can go.AVAILABLE AREA OF THE CAR: The area where Passenger use.SPEED REGULATOR: It is a mechanism, which is used to brake lift car when car speed is higher than a predetermined value.MACHINE ROOM: The room, which contains lift motor and control equipment.BUFFER: Buffer is spring or hydraulic element, which prevent car against rapid strike to the pit base.Not: The definitions translated into English from (TS 10922).
