| Açıklama | Introduction The article in this term project is about central bank and its role. Crises shocked the world in last few decades raised the question about how effective monetary institutions of economies worn while. Some argued that reasons of crises emerged from ineffectiveness of monetary institutions; others blamed politicians in undesirable outcomes. However, the obvious fact is that central bank with other monetary institutions play a vital role in stabilizing economy. Central bank with its money supply function can be used as an effective mean for macroeconomic policy. The word effectiveness is important for function of the central bank, because either due to political interference or lack of required structure central bank does not respond effectively to the changes in the economy which later lead to serious crises. That’s why I tried to focus on structure and functions of the central bank. Although structure and functions of central banks resemble each other, they differ in several ways. As a model, I choose the Central bank of United Kingdom, which is also known as the Bank of England. There are several reasons for concentrating on this central bank. First of all, it is famous for its independence. Nowadays, the concept “independence of central bank “ is frequently discussed in the Turkish agenda. Even some people claimed that it was a political interference, which lead to both November and February crises. Actually, number of supporter of that view are increasing in significant amount .It is also possible to see that giving “independence “ to the central bank is a part of stabilization policy since nowadays it is argued in Turkish parliament. On the other hand, the central bank of UK acquired its independence for a long time. Although there is no such a concept as “total freedom” which is impossible to see in state affairs.
