İsim SPICA Spica, the blue-white m
Açıklama SPICA Spica, the blue-white main sequence star, is a binary star, and is circled by an invisible companion, causing its brightness to vary slightly every four days. The two are so close; they nearly touch each other as they whirl around in a tight orbit. Both are blue in color and quite hot, with temperatures in excess of 20,000 degrees Kelvin. Spica is of the type classified as a dwarf, but this does not mean that it is a small star. The primary star, Spica, is about twice as large as our Sun (a mass about ten times the mass of our Sun), and it’s radius is 10 solar radii. Spica, belongs to spectral class B2 and spectral type B1III-IV+B2V, is at a distance of 260 light years (about 80 parsecs) showing its absolute brilliance, the star 2100 times more luminous than the Sun (luminosity class V). Spica is still first magnitude; Spica’s apparent magnitude is +0.98, making it the sixteenth brightest star in the sky, after Antares in Scorpius; in addition it’s absolute magnitude is –3.55. With all this properties, Spica is a strong source of X-rays in the sky. For the observation, we could find an ideal day to observe the sky on the 5th May, because before that night, the sky was always cloudy. I firstly see my star near the house of Tosun Terzioğlu on 6th May at 00.15 (the first minutes of 6th May). Then, the house was behind me, I turned my face to Bayramoğlu, and looked at the sky. Firstly, I follow Big Dipper’s handle through Arcturus. Then, I looked to down(Using also the place of the Kuzey Tacı). I think Spica is very bright, and I easily found it, the luminary of Virgo. ...
