Literature is not always a reliable source to give us information about the past.Because even if sometimes it really tells about the real life sometimes it may get quite imaginary. In Eric Fromm’s text “Human Situation:The Existential and the Historical Dichotomies in Man” I think the informations that he gave us is not all about the reality.They are not about the real world. The future of human beings explained in the text are not about the real I think. In my opinion,this situation depends on the type of writing which is used.If it is a biography,it is probable that it gives us a picture of reality,but if it is a novel,it may talk about an imaginary world even about dreams.It is also seen however,that the biographies do not contain much about the reality.For example,if the writer is not a mentally healthy person,then the information we get cannot be reliable,because a mentally diseased person can see hallusinations and so build a new world on his/her own. From this example I can say that it is not clearly determined if the literature reflects completely the real life,but it is a source to learn about history anyway. In conclusion,I believe that it is not right to think that the books we read could help us to live the past. I think that the world of literature is totally different from the real world we live in. ... |
