Kurtuluş GÜNGÖR Aim The object of this programming assignment is to practice GUI components of Java environment imported with javax.Swing package. You are going to use menu and action listener components in order to interact with user and use graphical functions to draw charts. Assignment Visualization is an efficient way of presenting data. Given a collection of data, different types of visualizations are available, like bar-charts and pie-charts. Your will design a software that draws a chart. according to input data given in a text file. This input file must be selected via file browser. All user interactions are handled by means of a menu. Two of menu items are “Open” and “Exit” under “File” menu. When “Open” is selected, a browser is opened to get input file name. Program exits when “Exit” is selected. A chart shows the percentage of each item given in input file. Input file format is given below: … Consider the following sample input file: January 2 February 3 You will map the value of each item into interval [0,100], that is, calculate the percentage of each item overall the total value of all items. Your program will draw the bar chart given in Figure-1, according to sample input file: Figure 1 A bar chart example Pie chart is another way for representing summary information. A pie(circle) can be explained with infinite pieces. Piece is used for determining an item in pie chart. Size of piece shows its value ratio over all items (pie). All items create a complete pie.
